WikiTribune - Customer Case Study

WikiTribune, founded by Jimmy Wales to crowdsource fact-based journalism without click-driven advertising, needed to grow its community of volunteer journalists and make participation and content more discoverable. At launch visitors struggled to find how to contribute, and the team lacked the data to guide product and editorial decisions.

Using Mixpanel from the start, WikiTribune redesigned the site to foreground community features, ran rapid experiments on page layouts and emails, and used analytics to steer content and processes. Those data-driven changes led to an 85% increase in articles published, helped volunteers produce an average of 11 articles per week, and gave the team actionable insights to shape its product roadmap.
