PatientPing is a Boston-based medical technology company that connects more than 25,000 providers, insurers, hospital systems and agencies to coordinate patient care in real time. Facing limitations with a prior analytics vendor and strict HIPAA and security requirements, PatientPing needed a transparent, feature-rich analytics solution to help subscribers understand the platform’s capabilities and improve onboarding and retention.
Using Mixpanel, PatientPing built a data-first culture with a shared event taxonomy (Lexicon) and leveraged Retention and Signal reports to identify that high activity—especially early engagement with the “Patient Story” feature—correlated with long-term use. By changing onboarding to surface Patient Story sooner, retention rose 10% in the first week; the team now plans targeted alerts and A/B tests to further boost engagement.
