Kast is a San Diego–based “virtual living room” that scaled rapidly during COVID-19 as millions used the platform for watch parties, game nights, and other social gatherings. Kast implemented Mixpanel to track events, build cohorts, and run retention reports, enabling the team to identify power users, validate or discard feature hypotheses (e.g., discovering Push-to-Talk was widely used), and create metrics like “Churn 30.” The results were a shift to data-driven decision-making, faster, more focused feature development, a unified customer view and a 50% increase in user retention, plus better-informed product prioritization across the company.
