How Joyn prioritized the user experience to drive subscriptions and ad revenue

Joyn, the Munich-based entertainment platform, used Mixpanel to better understand user journeys, cohorts, funnels, and content discovery across its millions of active users. With multiple viewing paths to the same content and three user types to serve, Joyn needed a way to optimize the user experience to support subscriptions and ad revenue.

Using Mixpanel, Joyn tested homepage layouts, content positioning, and editorial “windowing” across different cohorts, while also giving product, marketing, editors, and other teams a shared analytics tool. Mixpanel helped Joyn validate changes such as increasing homepage hero cards from three to five and launching faster “On-demand channels,” which drove high single-digit growth in watch time.
