Case Study: codeSpark achieves 85% first-month retention with Mixpanel

A Mixpanel Case Study

Preview of the codeSpark Case Study

How codeSpark retains 85% of first month users

codeSpark is a SaaS education company that teaches young children to code through play; since 2014 its app has reached 20 million students. Facing typical subscription challenges, the team needed to boost conversion from free to paid users, improve one-month retention, and raise engagement—particularly among female students.

By adopting Mixpanel product analytics (Funnels, People, A/B testing and Insights) and integrating TestFlight for beta testing, codeSpark analyzed funnels and cohorts, iterated features and pricing, and ran targeted experiments. The results: one-month retention rose to 85% (a 13 percentage-point increase), paying subscribers grew ~10%, female lesson completion jumped 20%, and the user base now skews roughly 50/50 boys and girls.
