Wauconda Community Unit School District (CUSD) 118, a six-school K–12 district in Wauconda, IL serving about 600 users, faced fragmented legacy communications systems that made information sharing difficult. Some schools lacked voicemail and new teachers waited days for phone and email services, putting strain on limited IT resources and prompting the need for a centralized, scalable solution that qualified for E‑Rate funding.
The district deployed Mitel’s MiCloud platform with MiVoice 5360 and 5304 IP phones to standardize communications across all schools. The rollout was completed in under six months, delivering a consistent, easy-to-use experience, improving staff and parent collaboration, enabling new teachers to have phone, voicemail and email from day one, and qualifying for an 80% E‑Rate reimbursement in 2015.
