Twente Region Improves Accessibility And Expands Telephony Capabilities With IP Telephony From Mitel

Twente Region is an inter-municipal joint venture of 14 local authorities in the Dutch Twente region (about 400 staff) responsible for services like housing, health and mobility. Facing frequent breakdowns, limited functionality and the need for a centrally managed, scalable and future‑proof telephony platform, the organization sought a reliable supplier and an IP-based solution that could be expanded across multiple authorities.

Twente Region deployed a Mitel IP telephony solution—MiVoice Business 3300 LX controllers, MiContact Center, 700 MiVoice IP phones, an IP console and teleworker solutions—installed in a redundant configuration across two sites and cut over after extensive testing. The result was vastly improved platform stability and accessibility (fewer breakdowns, call‑forwarding to mobiles, easy remote/home extensions), extensive functionality for users and a scalable, future‑proof system that can grow from the current 700 users to support many more authorities.
