Tien Wah Press switches to Mitel’s IP-based unified communications solution and saves 50 percent on telephony costs

Tien Wah Press, a global printing and solutions provider with about 700 employees in Singapore and 1,000 in Malaysia, was running on an ageing analog phone system that couldn’t scale, integrate users across sites, or control rising international call and maintenance costs. With heavy IDD traffic between Singapore, Malaysia and overseas offices and limited lines, the company needed an affordable, low-risk move to IP telephony that could be rolled out in phases without disrupting critical communications.

Tien Wah Press deployed a Mitel unified communications solution—three Mitel Voice Switches, Voice Appliances (with N+1 redundancy), ~280 IP phones and the Mitel Communicator—managed centrally via Mitel Director. The UC setup leveraged existing VPN links for free office-to-office calls, improved call routing and mobile reachability, reduced maintenance overhead, and delivered roughly 50% savings on telephony costs, enabling easier administration and plans to extend the single-image solution to other global sites.
