Sierra Pacific Industries (SPI), a privately owned lumber and window manufacturer with nearly 80 locations, ~5,000 employees and almost 2 million acres of timberland, was struggling with disparate, aging Avaya and Nortel phone systems. The legacy equipment made management difficult, limited employee collaboration, produced poor on-hold caller experiences, and exposed the company to security risks and costly toll-fraud incidents.
SPI implemented Mitel’s MiVoice Connect (ShoreTel) with deployment support from Gaynor Telesystems, starting with a pilot to enable a smooth transition. The unified solution delivered voicemail, instant messaging, mobility, conferencing, auto-attendant and SIP/VoIP connectivity, while centralizing management, improving security, enhancing emergency communications, simplifying wiring for remote sites, and freeing IT resources—boosting collaboration, scalability and caller experience across the organization.
