A Mitel Case Study
Oral Roberts University, a private Christian university with about 3,400 students and 700 faculty/staff representing 85 countries, needed to replace an aging, non‑IP phone system that served both the campus and the nearby CityPlex Towers. The goal was a high‑quality, easy‑to‑use VoIP solution that reduced administrative overhead and could be intuitively adopted by users of all ages.
ORU deployed Mitel IP phones for their simple interface and unified‑communications features (PC calling, voicemail, searchable first‑name directory, easy conference bridge) and superior audio quality. The rollout cut training to roughly 15 minutes, improved campus communications and customer service, supported widespread student and departmental use, saved the CIO an estimated 500 work hours a year, and delivered high user satisfaction.
