A Mitel Case Study
Olive Communications, the UK’s fastest-growing business communications provider (featured in the Sunday Times Top Track 2013), set out to mobilise its workforce and modernise its own infrastructure. Facing a mixed telephony estate (Mitel, Avaya, Panasonic) with duplicated voicemail, call routing and no single dial plan, Olive wanted a cloud-first solution to enable flexible working, a move to new headquarters, reduction of fixed infrastructure (Cat 6, desk phones, fixed lines) and adoption of softphones, Wi‑Fi, tablets and mobile device management.
Olive deployed Mitel Enterprise UCaaS in February 2014 and a cloud-based MiContact Centre for 30 multimedia agents, gaining single-number reach, teleworking, hot-desking, unified messaging, collaboration, presence and Lync integration. The switch cut infrastructure and move/add/change costs, enabled any employee to work from any location, reduced energy use, and increased productivity (about one hour saved per day), while allowing Olive to become a Mitel cloud partner and offer the UCaaS service to its own customers.
