A Mitel Case Study
Nottinghamshire Health Informatics Service (NHIS), funded by the NHS and supporting more than 13,000 users and hundreds of IT systems across the county, needed an affordable, easy-to-use way to replicate face-to-face communication between hospitals, GPs, commissioners, staff and patients. With tight budgets and a mix of devices (tablets, smartphones, room systems and desktops), NHIS required a single-client, low-latency video solution that worked on and off the corporate network; previous vendor options were too complex and expensive for multi-party use.
NHIS deployed an integrated Mitel/Vidyo/VMware solution (MiVoice, MiCollab and Vidyo components) chosen for simplicity, ubiquity and cost-effectiveness. The implementation was quick to configure and now supports multi-point calls across devices, lets clinicians work remotely with high-resolution images, and has received strong positive feedback—delivering the desired collaboration across sites and paving the way for assistive-technology integration at a fraction of competitor cost.
