Benedictine Abbey Admont - Customer Case Study

Benedictine Abbey Admont, a 950‑year‑old monastery in the Austrian Alps with diverse operations from a winery and ski resort to forestry and property management, needed a modern communications platform that could bridge analog and digital/VoIP systems. The Abbey sought a user‑friendly, energy‑conscious unified communications solution to migrate its decades‑old HiPath system, cope with meters‑thick walls that complicate IP cabling, and simplify communications across its varied enterprises.

Working with a local Salzburg technology partner, the Abbey deployed Unify OpenScape Business as a hybrid UCC solution, preserving analog lines while enabling VoIP. The platform now serves over 400 subscribers, provides mobile calling via myPortal, a one‑number concept, myAttendant presence and call control, automated attendants, and phone‑integrated door and camera functions—boosting efficiency, security, and reachability while respecting the Abbey’s sustainable and historical priorities.
