Marks & Spencer (M&S) is a UK‑based multinational retailer with more than 1,330 stores and about 80,000 employees. Facing a competitive, multichannel market, M&S needed to preserve its long tradition of personal customer service while uniting a dispersed workforce, enabling mobile productivity, fostering a digital mindset, and speeding decision‑making across stores and offices.
To meet those goals M&S deployed Microsoft Office 365—building a single intranet (M&S World) on SharePoint Online and using Yammer, OneDrive, Delve, Groups, Skype, Sway, Planner and other cloud tools. The rollout made roughly 40,000 documents accessible on any device, drove collaboration (about 20,000 Yammer users and 500 Office 365 Groups in six months), improved mobile KPI tracking and training, and delivered faster, more creative teamwork and better customer service.
