Heathrow Airport, a major international hub with more than 10,000 employees, needed to digitize frontline operations and reduce heavy paper-based processes after rolling out Microsoft Office 365. To empower everyday staff to solve business problems without heavy IT investment, employees adopted Microsoft Power Apps as a low-code tool to build practical, fast solutions.

Using Microsoft Power Apps, Heathrow teams developed 30 apps that replaced paper workflows and manual entry—saving about 75,000 sheets of paper and roughly 950 working hours per year (one app alone cuts 8,000–10,000 sheets monthly). The program also spurred career development (14 promotions and more staff building apps), demonstrating Microsoft Power Apps’ measurable impact on cost reduction, efficiency, and a culture of citizen-driven innovation.
