Case Study: Safaricom achieves secure, mobile enterprise collaboration and faster decision-making with Microsoft Power BI

A Microsoft Power BI Case Study

Preview of the Safaricom Case Study

Leading Kenyan telco nurtures a collaborative mindset in a truly mobile workplace

Safaricom, Kenya’s largest mobile network operator, faced fragmented communication tools, file-versioning conflicts, slow manual access provisioning, and the need to enable a highly mobile workforce. To modernize collaboration and analytics, Safaricom deployed a converged Microsoft stack—integrating Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive and Microsoft Power BI—working with a local Microsoft partner to deliver a secure, one-stop digital workplace.

The vendor solution centralized content and collaboration in Teams/SharePoint, enabled concurrent editing and stronger rights management, and brought real-time reports and dashboards via Microsoft Power BI to field engineers and business teams. As a result, Safaricom increased mobility and productivity (with the Customer Experience Division, nearly half the company’s workforce, seeing faster onboarding and file access), reduced manual provisioning tickets, and improved security and decision-making through integrated analytics.
