A Microsoft Azure Case Study
DHL Supply Chain, a global leader in contract logistics operating in more than 50 countries, needed to reduce the time, effort, complexity, and cost of integrating new robotics and high-tech tools into its warehouses and customers’ warehouse management systems. To overcome fragmented vendor integrations and lengthy deployments, the company partnered with Blue Yonder and Microsoft to build a standardized robotics hub.
The solution uses the Blue Yonder Luminate Platform built on Microsoft Azure PaaS (including Azure IoT Hub, Azure Cosmos DB, Azure SQL Database, and Azure API Management) to provide plug‑and‑play integration, centralized real‑time dashboards, and easier device configuration. A Madrid pilot with 6 River Systems cut integration times by 60% (with expectations of up to 90% faster deployments), enabled faster global rollouts (40+ sites planned in 2021), improved worker productivity, and increased resilience and scalability during peak demand.
