Heathrow prepares rather than reacts: uses data to deliver airport calm

Heathrow Airport worked to reduce passenger stress and keep operations running smoothly across a massive, highly variable airport environment. To do that, the customer turned to Microsoft Azure Stream Analytics and related Microsoft Azure and Power BI capabilities to better understand and respond to changing passenger flow, flight disruptions, baggage issues, and queue conditions in real time.

Microsoft Azure Stream Analytics helped Heathrow pull data from back-end systems, clean and prepare it, and deliver timely insights through Power BI dashboards and alerts for airport staff. The result was earlier visibility into disruptions—sometimes one to two hours in advance—so teams could add resources and keep passengers moving more smoothly, helping Heathrow anticipate demand and stay ahead of disruption.
