A Mercer Mettl Case Study
CHRIST University, a multidisciplinary deemed-to-be-university in Bengaluru with over 25,000 students, faced the urgent challenge of moving its center-based entrance exams online for more than 43,000 applicants worldwide when COVID-19 disrupted campus testing. Concerned about integrity, scalability, bandwidth variability and the ability to use its own faculty as proctors, CHRIST had seen other vendors fail to meet these requirements before engaging Mercer Mettl and its EXAMIN online proctoring and examination system.
Mercer Mettl implemented EXAMIN in four days, creating question banks, automating uploads and grading, and training 600–700 CHRIST staff to proctor with a mix of AI and live monitoring while supporting low-bandwidth access (512 kbps) and 24x7 assistance. The platform ran smoothly for tens of thousands of simultaneous users (≈10,000/day), delivered over 100,000 hours of proctoring, cut exam costs by about 50% and reduced operational planning time by roughly 70%, preserving academic continuity and enabling CHRIST to extend online exams to semester assessments.
