Modern Foods, an iconic Indian bakery brand expanding into new geographies and categories, faced an underperforming sales force, unfocused sales hiring, and a need for objective promotion decisions across a multi-generational workforce. To build a scalable, accurate sales hiring strategy and identify high‑potentials internally, Modern Foods partnered with Mercer Mettl and used its validated assessments—including a custom sales profiler and a Virtual Assessment and Development Center (VADC).
Mercer Mettl implemented a competency framework and a tailored battery of assessments (sales knowledge, sales personality, customer focus, motivation, cognitive and situational judgment) delivered via VADC, producing easy-to-read reports and objective promotion data. The work enabled a high‑performing sales unit, reduced new‑hire sales attrition by 30%, improved screening accuracy by 66%, and delivered hires that matched expectations (75% of hires from Mercer Mettl’s assessments per Modern Foods), while cutting logistics and supporting data‑driven restructuring and promotions.
