How Mercer | Mettl empowered IIM Bangalore to conduct secure online proctored examinations

IIMB (Indian Institute of Management Bangalore) needed a secure, scalable, and user-friendly examination system to support its growing digital programs (IIMBX, edX, SWAYAM) while preserving academic integrity. To run high‑stakes, location‑agnostic exams with minimal technical friction and options for human invigilation, IIMB engaged Mercer Mettl to address challenges around cheating prevention, varied question formats, and large-scale delivery.

Mercer Mettl deployed its Online Examination Software (Examine) and Mettl’s Proctoring as a Service (MPaaS), including Mettl Secure Browser, AI Proctoring (>95% accuracy), 3‑point candidate authentication and the Credibility Index, plus auto‑grading and reporting. The solution supported 26 exam formats, accommodated global scale (platform proven to handle up to 100,000 proctored assessments a day), drastically reduced cheating incidents, produced near‑instant results, and enabled IIMB to confidently award credible certificates to deserving candidates.
