Great Lakes Institute of Management - Customer Case Study

Great Lakes Institute of Management (GLIM) faced an urgent challenge when COVID-19 lockdowns threatened to delay critical graduation and semester exams that were previously conducted in physical classrooms with human invigilation. Needing a scalable, secure remote exam solution that preserved transparency and fairness for hundreds of students (about 400 final-year students at immediate risk), GLIM evaluated providers and selected Mercer Mettl, using its EXAMIN online examination and proctoring platform to replicate the offline exam experience.

Mercer Mettl implemented EXAMIN with AI-driven proctoring, the Mettl Secure Browser, disruption-tolerance features, QR-based handwritten answer upload, faculty proctoring training, and strong AWS-backed encryption and audit trails. As a result, GLIM avoided deferring exams, moved nearly 1,000 students online, delivered close to 25,000 assessments, and logged over 40,000 hours of proctoring; Mercer Mettl’s AI flagged up to 18 digressions with over 98% accuracy, ensured no connectivity-related exclusions, and provided real-time integrity reports that preserved timely graduations and reduced the institution’s carbon footprint.
