Massive Address Reconciliation Using Contact Zone

Knowledge Integrity was asked to analyze a massive set of business transaction records (on the order of 500 million) tied to U.S. delivery locations, but inconsistent and imprecise address data (variant spellings, missing suite/unit info, incorrect postal codes, vanity names, long‑tail distribution) threatened the accuracy of aggregate counts. To standardize and reconcile these addresses at scale, Knowledge Integrity selected Melissa’s Contact Zone product, a USPS‑certified address parsing, standardization, and cleansing solution.

Melissa’s Contact Zone was used to parse, validate, and enhance the source addresses (applying USPS data and automatic corrections) and to generate unique Address Keys for reconciliation. On the desktop platform used, Contact Zone processed 4,577,000 records in 55 minutes (~1,390 records/sec or ~5M/hr), and running two machines yielded ~10M records/hour. Results showed 87% fully verified addresses and an additional 5% partially verified—92% overall verification—enabling Knowledge Integrity to reliably merge variant representations (using Address Key + Suite + Private Mailbox) and deliver accurate aggregate analysis.
