A Melissa Case Study
The University of Iowa College of Dentistry faced widespread patient address errors that disrupted communication and billing across more than 174,000 patient visits (2016–2017). To eliminate mistakes from illegible registration cards, clerical entry errors, and fraudulent submissions, the college selected Melissa’s Data Quality Suite—primarily using the CASS™ Certified Address Object—to verify and standardize contact data in real time at point of entry.
Melissa’s implementation validated, corrected and standardized addresses, phones, names and emails during data capture (and via batch processing), automating data cleansing and reducing fraudulent or undeliverable records. As a result, the University of Iowa College of Dentistry saw fewer returned mailings, saved time and resources on outreach and billing, and improved operational efficiency while planning further gains from batch verification and address-forwarding updates like NCOALink®.
