Clean Data Can Mean Life or Death in Pre-Hospital Care

Medusa Medical Technologies, developer of the Siren ePCR™ Suite for pre-hospital emergency services, faced the critical challenge of capturing accurate, fast patient and location data while EMTs focus on life-saving care. Because misspelled names, incomplete addresses, and outdated phone info can slow hospital handoffs, billing, and analytics, Medusa turned to Melissa and its Data Quality Tools Suite (DQTS) and Canadian Address Object to improve data capture without distracting first responders.

Medusa integrated Melissa’s DQTS and Canadian Address Object into the Siren ePCR to verify and correct contact data in real time at point-of-entry (or in batch), standardize records, parse names, append gender, and update area codes. The Melissa solution sped data processing, reduced billing and routing errors, and provided cleaner datasets for safety analysis and ambulance deployment planning—outcomes that Medusa says improve response times and, ultimately, patient care (“it literally helps save lives”).
