The University of Wolverhampton Modernizes Education and Built-Environment Processes with Matterport

The University of Wolverhampton, a large university in England serving more than 21,000 students, needed a way to preserve construction phases for teaching, improve facilities planning, and support renovation and reconstruction work. It used Matterport’s Matterport Pro2 camera and 3D digital twin technology to capture a new campus building across six stages of construction, creating immersive walkthroughs for students and staff.

Matterport enabled the university to build a virtual library of project walkthroughs, offer online campus tours, support remote classes during COVID-19, and help facilities teams plan maintenance and renovations more accurately. The scans also sped up renovation approvals for community projects, and one Matterport-based workflow reduced surveying and reporting time from 45 to 26 hours, a 40% reduction.
