e-Making Uses Matterport for Historical Preservation, Restoration, and Seismic Retrofitting

e-Making, a Bologna-based digital engineering firm, needed a more efficient way to help architectural, MEP, and structural teams capture, analyze, and model complex building conditions during the historical preservation and seismic retrofitting of Italy’s Remondini Palace. To solve this, e-Making turned to Matterport, using the Matterport Pro2, Leica BLK360, and Matterport Development Tools to create digital twins and improve collaboration across the project lifecycle.

With Matterport, e-Making built the e-Building platform to manage and share documentation around immersive digital twins, enabling virtual inspections, clash detection in BIM workflows, and same-day access to project data for stakeholders. The results were significant: site surveys took 70% less time and 20% less cost, virtual inspections delivered 100% time and cost savings, measured data was 50x more accurate than traditional methods, and e-Building helped drive 80% savings in building documentation management.
