A Matterport Case Study
Central Lincoln PUD, an electric utility serving four rural counties in Oregon, needed to cost-effectively modernize its power transport system across 45 remote facilities. The four-year upgrade would normally require extensive fieldwork, repeated site visits, and high travel costs, so the utility turned to Matterport’s Pro2 3D camera and digital twin platform to help document sites and support planning.
With Matterport, Central Lincoln PUD and engineering partner Burns & McDonnell captured 3D digital twins of substations and other facilities, enabling remote collaboration, virtual walkthroughs, and a shared source of truth for drawings, measurements, and asset details. Matterport helped eliminate more than 250 repeat site visits over four years, reduce travel expenses, broaden vendor bidding, and improve workflows while keeping the project under budget and on schedule.
