Bayer Digitizes a Legacy Design Process with Matterport Digital Twins to Reduce Project Planning Cost by 75%

Bayer’s Crop Science engineering team needed a faster, more accurate way to digitize a legacy design process for a new greenfield site, since manual site visits, sketches, and condition surveys were time-consuming and often missed critical details. Using Matterport digital twins and point-cloud scanning, Bayer wanted to create highly accurate digital design material and integrate legacy site information into modern BIM workflows.

Matterport helped Bayer generate 2D floor plans, a photorealistic 3D model, and LOD 200 Revit files from digital twin data, enabling easier collaboration and reuse across design and construction. The result was a 75% reduction in project planning costs, about $80,000 in annual savings, faster delivery of Revit files, and a reduced supplier bid after sharing the digital twin, which also improved the overall design-to-construction value chain.
