Bank of Hawaii Uses Video to Help Manage Business Continuity During Hurricane Lane

Bank of Hawaii, one of the state's largest financial institutions, needed to manage widespread branch closures and ensure business continuity as Hurricane Lane approached. The challenge was to make timely decisions about branch operations without putting staff at risk. The bank utilized its existing March Networks video surveillance system to gain the remote visibility required for this critical situation.

The solution involved using the March Networks system for virtual patrols, allowing investigators to remotely check on branches for power, network connectivity, flooding, and damage. This enabled the bank to make swift, informed decisions about closures and communication. As a result, approximately 90 percent of branches were safely closed in advance, damage was assessed quickly, and recovery plans were built. The March Networks solution was so effective it is now formally incorporated into the bank's future situational response plans.
