A Maintel Case Study

Preview of the South Lanarkshire Council Case Study

Telephone line migration and implementation of intelligent telecoms expense management

South Lanarkshire Council, one of Scotland’s 32 unitary council areas, needed to reduce telecoms spend while maintaining and improving services for citizens. The council was cautious about moving away from BT as its fixed-line provider, but wanted better support, value and management information.

Maintel migrated 2,000 BT phone lines to its virtual network and implemented ITEM (Intelligent Telecoms Expense Management) to centralise billing data and improve visibility of telecoms assets and costs. The result was a reduction in costs of over 25%, along with a single portal for tracking usage and billing, giving South Lanarkshire Council stronger control, accountability and bill management.
