The University of Bath partnered with Maintel to modernize its communications infrastructure as the UK higher education sector became more competitive and business-oriented. The university needed a new telephone system that could improve communications with students, staff, alumni, and stakeholders, while also handling the annual surge of clearing calls and supporting reliable, 24/7 event communications.
Maintel implemented a new IP telephony system incorporating SIP trunking over Janet, migrating the university with no disruption to service. The solution enabled rapid scaling of SIP channels for peak demand, reduced costs compared with ISDN30s, improved efficiency and reporting, and gave the University of Bath a more flexible, future-proof communications platform.
