Bath & North East Somerset Council, a unitary local authority serving more than 175,000 citizens, needed a reliable, secure, and scalable data network to support uninterrupted public services, improve customer experience, and manage cost, power use, and future growth. Maintel partnered with the council on the design, development, and installation of data network infrastructure, including core switching, firewalls, wireless, and WAN design.

Maintel implemented a resilient layer 2 WAN based on Avaya’s shortest path bridging (SPB), alongside other best-of-breed technologies from partners such as Aerohive and Palo Alto Networks. The result was faster service provisioning, failover within milliseconds, simpler monitoring and scaling, reduced downtime, lower total cost of ownership, and reduced power consumption to support the council’s carbon reduction goals.
