Design and implementation of IP telephony (VoIP) infrastructure

Derbyshire County Council, the upper-tier local authority serving more than 760,000 residents across 400+ offices, needed to replace its legacy telephony platform as it reached end of life. Maintel was selected through formal tender to help the council move to a more modern IP telephony/VoIP environment based on the Mitel 3300 platform.

Maintel designed and implemented the new system in two phases to minimise disruption, running the old and new platforms in parallel during cutover. The result was a smooth switchover with no loss of service, plus a more reliable and supportable telephony platform that enabled unified communications, mobile working, and hot desking across the council.
