How Simon Ogwang Got Back to What He Loves

Centre For Adolescent Reproductive Health (CEFARH), a Uganda-based nonprofit focused on HIV/AIDS prevention, reducing teenage pregnancy, and decreasing child marriage, faced a major crisis in April 2020 after the unexpected death of its chief fundraiser. With no money in the bank, no contact database, and limited fundraising and marketing experience, the organization turned to Mailchimp for help through the Mailchimp experts directory.

Mailchimp partner Alessandra Farabegoli and six other freelancers stepped in pro bono to rebuild CEFARH’s digital presence, including a new logo, redesigned website, updated Instagram and Facebook pages, and an optimized Mailchimp account with a 4-email welcome series. The results were dramatic: website traffic grew from a few dozen visits per month in January to 10,000 in April, Facebook monthly reach rose from about 2,000 to more than 40,000 views, and the welcome series achieved a 50% open rate through the final email.
