Elk Head, an upscale men's clothing retailer, faced the challenge of effectively driving traffic to its website and engaging its customer base to build a community. Founder Garrett Hilgendorf had a strong brand aesthetic but was not fully utilizing his customer data. He used Mailchimp and had a Shopify store, but the two platforms were not connected, leaving a significant number of subscriber contacts untapped.
Mailchimp helped by connecting Elk Head's Shopify store to its Mailchimp account, instantly importing over 9,000 previously unseen contacts. This allowed them to leverage e-commerce automations, including setting up a free abandoned cart email sequence. Mailchimp also assisted with implementing a targeted Facebook ad campaign. While the ad did not generate direct online sales for a promoted item, it resulted in the product selling out in the physical store, demonstrating successful audience reach and engagement.
