A Mailchimp Case Study
Wing on Wo, the oldest family-owned store in New York's Chinatown, faced a pivotal challenge: the potential closure of its historic business due to elder care demands, threatening its legacy and role as a community hub. Fifth-generation owner Mei Lum sought to not only preserve the store but also amplify its mission to foster an inclusive future and resist cultural displacement in the neighborhood. To achieve this, she launched a non-profit initiative, The W.O.W. Project, and needed a reliable way to communicate urgent updates and calls to action to her community of supporters.
Mailchimp provided the solution as the primary communication platform for The W.O.W. Project from its inception. The non-profit uses Mailchimp to instantly share program updates, event information, and critical news, effectively mobilizing the community around urgent neighborhood matters and artistic activism initiatives. This reliable communication tool has been instrumental in strengthening community ties, helping the organization navigate challenges like the COVID-19 pandemic, and furthering its mission to create a secure and welcoming future for Chinatown.
