A Mailchimp Case Study
Eastmont Group, led by Mike Gottfried, was tasked with getting MyPorter — an on-demand, full-service self-storage startup in Atlanta — noticed in a crowded, old-school industry. Their challenge was to build awareness and acquisition among tech-savvy college students and new graduates, and to create a marketing system that could scale without pulling the founders away from operations. To do that they relied on Mailchimp’s email marketing and automation tools to build lists, segment audiences, and trigger targeted messaging.
Using Mailchimp, Eastmont Group built an initial list through campus and apartment partnerships, then segmented users into three behavior-based groups (browsers, cart abandoners, and purchasers) and deployed automated, triggered email flows tailored to each group. Extensive role-playing and testing kept messages relevant and non-spammy; the campaign grew each segment of the funnel, increased website traffic and engagement, and helped MyPorter reach a younger audience while letting the team focus on operations — all made possible by Mailchimp’s automation and segmentation features.
