Top Canadian University Uses MadCap Flare to Teach Online Documentation Best Practices

Simon Fraser University, one of Canada’s top three universities for more than 20 years, wanted to give students hands-on experience with authoring software and the best practices used in modern online documentation. In its Technical Communications Certificate course, TCOM260: Fundamentals of Creating Online Documents, the university chose MadCap Software’s MadCap Flare as the tool for teaching those skills.

MadCap Software’s Flare gave students experience with single-sourcing to desktop, Web, and mobile formats, along with topic-based authoring, CSS, search, and table of contents setup. SFU said students were able to accomplish a great deal in just one week, and the course was then extended to four weeks to build on that knowledge.
