SMART Technologies needed a better way to create and maintain documentation for multiple hardware and software products. Using Adobe FrameMaker and Adobe RoboHelp made it difficult and time-consuming to update multiple versions of the same content, while the company also wanted a modern support site that was responsive across devices and easier for customers to navigate. SMART Technologies turned to MadCap Software and MadCap Flare, along with MadCap Lingo, MadCap Capture, and MadCap Analyzer.
MadCap Software helped SMART Technologies move to single-source, multi-channel publishing so the team could create and deliver HTML5 support content and PDF guides from one place. The new setup improved content reuse, simplified translation, supported responsive design, and made the support site easier to integrate with the company’s corporate website. SMART Technologies also added interactive features such as videos, feedback links, drop-down text, and search-friendly frameless HTML5 output, and the company reported receiving 800 responses in the last month from its feedback links.
