Quantum Corporation, a data storage company in San Jose, California, needed to modernize its product documentation as its product lines expanded and its existing tools became too complex and time-consuming for multiple writers to maintain. The team wanted to create responsive HTML5-based documentation centers that would work across desktops, notebooks, tablets, and mobile phones, while also improving navigation, content reuse, and collaboration. To do that, Quantum chose MadCap Software’s MadCap Flare, along with MadCap Analyzer and MadCap Contributor.

Using MadCap Software’s Flare, Quantum now delivers ten HTML5-based documentation centers and supporting PDFs from a single source, with topic-based publishing, responsive design, top navigation, and search to make information easier to find. The company said Flare gave it the functionality it needed at roughly 10% of the cost of a traditional CMS, while also reducing time spent updating releases and improving collaboration through SVN integration and shared content reuse.
