DNV GL, a global provider of software for the energy, process, and maritime industries, needed to replace an aging Adobe FrameMaker-based documentation workflow. Its team wanted to import existing content into a modern authoring and content management solution, modernize print and online documentation, and make it easier to deliver help and manuals to internal and external users.

Using MadCap Software’s MadCap Flare, DNV GL adopted single-source, topic-based authoring with conditional text, templates, TOCs, dropdowns, and TFS integration. The team turned user guides and manuals of more than 2,000 pages into smaller, more manageable content, reduced production time on multiple outputs, improved version control for multiple stakeholders, and created cleaner HTML5 online help and PDF user guides.
