Fingrid, Finland’s national electricity transmission company, manages roughly 80% of the country’s power grid and must ensure extremely high information security and operational reliability. Facing nearly two million legacy files, duplicate records and limitations of traditional folder-based document systems, the company needed an agile, secure and scalable information management platform that would support business processes, compliance and remote access.

Fingrid implemented M-Files as a metadata-driven single system for records, images, contracts and case management, integrated with Microsoft Office, SharePoint and Teams. Metadata-based permissions, automated workflows, version and lifecycle control and a supplier-facing collaboration repository eliminated duplicates, improved access (including mobile), and streamlined approvals. The result was faster, more transparent operations with lower risk, cost and time savings and a single trusted source of business information for decision-making.
