Virtua Health, a large, diverse health system in southern New Jersey, needed to simplify and personalize patient access across specialty and primary care to close care gaps and improve outcomes. To meet that challenge, Virtua partnered with Luma Health, deploying Luma’s patient engagement platform via API integration with their Epic EHR to enable self-scheduling, automated outreach, and tailored pre- and post‑visit messaging.

Luma Health implemented preference-based automated outreach, Epic Campaigns integration, and waitlist/rescheduling workflows that drove measurable impact: $1M in staff cost savings from patient self-scheduling in the first year; 3,578 Cologuard tests completed in five months with 267 positive results identified sooner; cancellation lead time increased from 2.4 to 4.5 days and 56% more patients now use Virtua’s waitlist; and nearly 600 cardiology prep messages sent—improving access, utilization, and earlier detection.
