Montefiore improves patient experience from the digital front door through the entire care journey

Montefiore Health System, a leading academic medical center serving a diverse New York City population (including Albert Einstein College of Medicine students), needed to improve patient access and create enterprise‑wide digital engagement across the care continuum. To modernize the digital front door and keep the EHR as the source of truth, Montefiore integrated Luma Health with its Epic EHR.

Luma Health and Montefiore co‑developed EHR‑integrated workflows — closed‑loop referral scheduling via text that updates Epic, MyChart activation prompts at check‑in, smart no‑show follow‑ups that rebooked 432 missed appointments in five months, self‑scheduling prompts for labs/x‑rays, and surgery status texts for loved ones using Epic App Orchard APIs — delivering measurable improvements in scheduling, engagement, and patient experience. Luma Health’s Epic integration enabled Montefiore to scale its Automated Patient Engagement Platform and retain more patients.
