Cook County Health, which serves half a million people across the Chicagoland region and manages care at 300+ locations, needed a digital communications solution that could handle extreme scale—4,000–5,000 transactions per second and half a million concurrent portal users—while preserving efficiency and patient care during peak volumes. They partnered with Luma Health to deploy a scalable patient engagement platform featuring QR code intake workflows, multilingual messaging, and automated appointment reminders.

Luma Health implemented QR-code intake to speed check-in, two-way SMS/voice in English, Spanish, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, and Chinese, and automated reminder campaigns. The solution enabled over 6 million personalized messages, more than 4.9 million appointment reminders, and facilitated over one million COVID‑19 vaccine and booster appointments, reducing manual intake work, improving throughput, and keeping schedules full.
