Linux Academy uses Lucidchart to create interactive diagrams for their online courses, helping students to break down complex concepts

Linux Academy is a leading online Linux and cloud training platform that aims to teach complex topics—Linux, AWS, Azure, GCP, OpenStack—through hands-on, accessible methods. Course author Tom Haslett wanted to move beyond dense text and static images to give students a way to explore high-level overviews and drill down into detailed views, but needed a tool that supported non-linear, interactive navigation.

Using Lucidchart’s hotspots and layers, Linux Academy built interactive diagrams (notably The Orion Papers for AWS) that let students navigate between overview and granular pages while authors retain control via view-only links. Lucidchart is now part of author onboarding and internal workflows; nearly every course includes interactive diagrams, student engagement and comprehension have improved, and the learning curve for complex topics has been reduced.
