Dealer Inspire, a company that builds websites and technology for auto dealers, tasked product manager Nate Jones and lead developer Steven Musumeci with creating Ana, an AI chatbot for dealership websites. Their main challenge was mapping complex, highly conditional dialog flows and coordinating work from different locations—Twine and other mockup tools couldn’t represent the branching logic clearly or support effective remote collaboration.

They solved this by diagramming Ana’s conversations in Lucidchart, using color-coded flows and detailed nodes so Nate could define conversation variants and Steven could implement them without confusion. Real-time editing, in-diagram comments with @mentions, and shared to-do lists centralized communication, eliminated versioning headaches, and sped implementation; Ana is now in beta and the team credits Lucidchart as instrumental to the project’s success.
