The customer, IBM, faced the challenge of needing to outsource its infrastructure to focus on business outcomes, but found it difficult to locate a partner with the enterprise-class skills and support required to host its mission-critical applications running on IBM AIX and IBM i operating systems.

The vendor, Logicalis, implemented a solution using its Enterprise Cloud for IBM Power Systems. This provided a secure, fully managed environment on IBM POWER8 servers, allowing IBM to convert a significant capital expense into a more affordable operational one while meeting demanding service level agreements. Logicalis estimates this solution can cut costs for certain workloads, like running Oracle database, by nearly half compared to other platforms.
