Lionbridge’s customer is a long-standing global retail giant in athletic and sports apparel that needed to generate a very large volume of French-language marketing content in a more informal, conversational tone to reach younger consumers. The company faced steep cost and time constraints using human-only processes, plus concerns about AI safety and output quality; Lionbridge proposed an AI-powered content creation and localization approach leveraging the customer’s existing Translation Memories and its proprietary tools.
Lionbridge implemented a three-step solution: pull and analyze existing TMs, engineer five custom AI prompts, and run the content through its private, proprietary AI tool in small chunks with an AI-driven review and light human QA, delivering new TM files. The outcome: Lionbridge produced 1,018,161 translation units of informal French content, cut translation costs by 45%, sped delivery by 75% (completing the project in two weeks), and provided reusable TM assets to accelerate future marketing and localization.
